About me
My background
I am an experienced counsellor, Consultative Supervisor and Solution Focused Hypnotherapist.
I am an accredited Member of the National Counselling Society (MNCS accred.).

I worked in the NHS for 34 years as a Registered Nurse and have gained a wealth of experience and skills working with people helping them face a spectrum of challenges, including eating disorders, addictions, post-traumatic stress disorder, phobias, depression and anxiety management.
My qualifications
Qualifying as a professional counsellor in 1997 - integrative model - I have favoured a person centred approach to therapy. However, the diversity of challenges and needs in my client group has led me into further training in a variety of other approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectal Behavioural Therapy and systemic Family Therapy. I strongly believe in adapting the therapy to the person.
I worked as specialist in an NHS eating disorder service for 14 years and have an Advanced Diploma in Mental Health Studies (eating disorders) 2004. I have acted as a supervisor and advisor to mental health professionals within the NHS and GP's. I have lectured regularly at the University of the West of England, and at numerous other venues around the country.
I now offer specialist training to counsellors and psychotherapists in and around the Bristol Area.
I hold a Diploma in Consultative Supervision and offer process and specialist supervision to therapists and other professionals.
I qualified as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist in 2014.
I have a strong commitment to ongoing professional development, have regular supervision and hold appropriate insurance.
I am a qualified Shiatsu Practitioner (1992) but no longer practice. However, this has continued to inform my holistic approach within talking therapies.
